This course offers a chemical view of the metals in biological systems. Course content includes introductory coordination chemistry, spectroscopic methods used to study metal ions and metal complexes in biological system, and the catalytic properties of important metallo-proteins. Prerequisite: CHE 1046R and CHE 1046L or CHE 1046H or CHE 1046C and permission to attend an honors course or honors standing.
