W208 offers students an introduction to the craft and practice of poetry writing: how to find subjects for writing; how to create images, similes, and metaphors; how to make rhyme sound natural; how to produce both metered and free-verse poetry. Part of the class will be a workshop in which students will learn to revise their poems and those of fellow students. This course can serve as a prerequisite for ENG W303 or ENG W305.
