This course provides a comprehensive look at this important area of supply chain management. The course examines the purchasing function in industrial firms. Topics include sourcing (domestic and international), specifications, standards; contract and pricing practices; negotiation; quality assurance and reliability; inventory management; value analysis; capital equipment buying; make-or-buy decisions; evaluation of purchasing performance; and ethics.
