Enumeration theory covers methods of counting objects with a given description (used to compute probabilities and to estimate computer program running times). Design theory covers methods for creating collections of sets meeting given criteria (used in experimental design). Error correcting codes covers how small errors can be identified and corrected (used in MP3 players, DVDs, cable TV). Prerequisite, 224. Boutin.
