Three subtopic areas are offered: Western Art Music - An exploration of the traditional Western classical music canon. Music in the United States - A broad approach that examines both American vernacular music (blues, jazz, folk, rock, pop, etc.) and the Western classical music canon. The History of American Popular Music - An in-depth exploration of American popular music.
