This course gives a detailed description of the materials management and purchasing functions within a business. The course will analyze all the tactical supply chain activities that a firm will be involved in, including: material flow, warehousing, inventory control, purchasing lot sizing, request for bids, specifications, negotiating, contract types, cost analyses such as total cost of ownership, acceptance sampling and other quality techniques, capital expenditures, legal considerations and logistics mode choices.
