In this course, students explore and analyze economic, ethical, legal, policy, and regulatory issues affecting nursing. This course enhances students’ acquisition of the roles of designer, coordinator, and manager of care; and member of a profession. Students learn and practice advocacy skills for vulnerable populations. Topics include financial and economic issues in health care, the functions of government agencies in the development and enforcement of health care policies, bioethical issues, and the roles of various regulatory agencies in the nursing and health care fields. Lecture two hours. Prerequisites: NUR 3100, NUR 3110, NUR 3120, NUR 3122, and NUR 3124. Corequisities: NUR 3102, NUR 3112, NUR 3126, and NUR 3128. (SPEAKING)
