This course explores the Appalachian region from a cross-disciplinary perspective, with readings on Appalachia drawn primarily from the humanities. Both historical and contemporary issues are examined, focusing upon national and international as well as local and regional contexts. This courses provides an introduction to the Bachelor of Arts degree in Appalachian Studies and to the undergraduate minor in Appalachian Studies. Students who take AS 2410 cannot take AS 2411 for credit.
