An orientation to marine science research process, techniques, and equipment. Investigations of physical and chemical properties of the sea, the air/sea interface, biological taxonomy and classification, student of longitude, latitude, other navigational elements, ocean basin geography and geology study. Evaluation of the sea as a physical, chemical, biological, and recreational resource. Includes at least three class field trips. ADVISORY: English A098 or ESL A199. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC.
