A course for prospective teachers about current family, school, and community partnership models and approaches which foster two-way partnerships with families and communities of diverse backgrounds. This course covers historical, legal, social, and political perspectives regarding educational access and equity for diverse student populations found in contemporary classrooms; students learn about building relationships with ethnically and linguistically diverse families and communities along with a focus on socialization, identity development, and the developing child in a societal context. Includes ten hours of arranged fieldwork/focused observations aligned with students' area of interest (preschool, elementary, middle school, highschool). Letter grade only.
