Description:

A concise study and application of the copper plate photogravure process. Usage of current available resources substituting for materials that are no longer available for photogravure. This is a 19th century obsolete photomechanical reproduction process that is constantly challenging the ingenuity of it's practitioners to keep it alive and a viable technique in the 21st century. The course objectives are understanding and demonstrating proficiency in the photogravure process and creation of finished printed images from the process learned. It is important for the future of this process that the students understand not only the "how", but the "why" of going through all of these procedures.
