The scientific background for addressing problems of aqueous pollution, water treatment, and sustainable production of materials with minimum environmental impact. Hydrolysis, oxidation-reduction, complex formation, dissolution and precipitation, predominance diagrams; examples of natural water systems, processes for water treatment and for the production of inorganic materials from minerals.
