The lecture/discussion sequence ENG 140-ENG 141 takes an historical approach to British literature from the Middle Ages to the dawn of the 20th century. This course concentrates on early modern English literature; it will examine major works by such authors as Sidney, Spenser, Shakespeare, Donne, Marvell, Milton, Dryden, Pope, Gray and Collins. For undergraduate English majors and minors, this course partially satisfies the Historical Sequences (A) and Period (C-1a) requirements for majors.
