An introduction to the mechanisms and patterns of evolutionary change during the earth's history. Although this course will briefly survey the major evolutionary events that have occurred since life first evolved, the emphasis will be on mechanisms of evolutionary change (e.g. mutation, natural selection, genetic drift and gene flow) and resultant patterns (e.g. phylogenetic pattern, coevolution, stasis, adaptive radiation).
