"GEOG 10040 Introduction to Human Geography II: Global and Local Dimensions at UCD; This module introduces some key topics in the fields of population, cultural and economic geography by focusing on (a) the human geography of global contrasts, and (b) the historical geography of Ireland with particular reference to patterns and agents of change in the Irish settlement landscape. On completion of this module students should be able to: 1. Identify contemporary global, economic and demographic contrasts. 2. Review models describing the geography of development. 3. Appreciate key issues about population/ resource relationships and population growth. 4. Provide an explanatory basis for the historical geography of Ireland. 5. Relate Ireland to Great Britain our nearest neighbour and to integrate the story of Ireland with that of the world in a general sense."
