This course will cover the fundamentals of gaseous ionization and gas discharges including basic ionization phenomena from breakdown to plasma formation and basic plasma properties. The course will focus on low-temperature, non-equilibrium plasma generation (glow discharges, corona discharges, dielectric barrier discharges) and discuss new applications and directions including microplasma generation.
