This course introduces students to the history and use of contemporary computer technology and to the retrieval, evaluation, and management of electronic and print information. The course covers various types of computer systems, college library systems, the Internet and its applications, networked information systems, traditional scholarly resources, central concepts underlying the research process, the social impact of developments in IT, and ethical, legal, and political aspects of technology and information utilization.
