Description:
This is a survey course in chemistry for non-science majors emphasizing basic principles. Topics include atomic and molecular structure, nuclear chemistry, formulas and nomenclature, states of matter, chemical reactions, acids and bases. Laboratory sections emphasize applications of basic techniques and supplement lecture topics. This course addresses the chemistry of societal issues, including alternative energy sources and the impact humans have on the environment. This course will not serve as a prerequisite for CHM 105 or CHM 111.
