PHILOSOPHY
-
Description:
-
This course explores a major movement in twentieth century continental philosophy. The existentialists’ focus on “lived experience” makes literature a particularly conducive medium for addressing major questions of freedom, responsibility and meaning. Course readings therefore include both philosophical writings (by Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Sartre and others) and works of fiction (by Camus, Sartre, Kafka, Hesse and others).
