Prerequisite: EDUC 200 This course focuses on the history and philosophy of the middle level concept as well as possible future directions. Understanding the larger context of changes can assist beginning middle level teacher candidates to expand their awareness of how effective middle schools address the intellectual, social- emotional and physical needs of culturally diverse early adolescents. The course explores the many essential components of effective middle schools, including the increasing use of technology as an instructional tool.
