This course surveys the changing ways women and the women’s movement have been depicted by the media over the years. Special focus is placed on the media’s treatment of women as consumers, employees, and advertising targets. The course also examines the vital roles that women have played in the development and popularization of newspapers, magazines, film, radio, and television.
