Analysis of the philosophy and practices in middle-level education. Primary emphasis is placed on the unique needs of middle-level students and programs and instructional methods and practices designed to meet those needs, including content area reading instruction. Examination of teacher roles in the middle school and curricular reform movements, including strategies for teaching across the curriculum. Students participate in a 35-hour preclinical experience. Transportation is needed. Fall and Spring.
