This course explores the critical questions, analytical categories, and common methodologies that structure the interdisciplinary practice of U.S. cultural studies. We will trace the influence of British/Birmingham cultural studies as well as recent developments in interdisciplinary American studies, ethnic studies, gender studies, and media studies. Students will have an opportunity to propose their own cultural studies project and write a substantial research paper. Spring.
