Prerequisite: VARTS 231Fulfills a course requirement in the Visual Arts Studies: SculptureCore ConcentrationThis course integrates students' understanding of materials andtechniques developed in Foundations and Intermediate Sculptureto create work that investigates a personal direction in Sculpture.Emphasis is placed on the students' conceptual and thematicintentions and how they take place in 3-Dimensional form.Innovation, an expanded vocabulary of traditions and new directionsin Sculpture, and depth of engagement with process, idea and formare expected. The relationship of site to space and inquiry into thenature of contemporary sculptural issues and forms will be examinedthrough making, field trips, and through readings about the historyand theory of sculpture.
