The first part of the course focuses on classical texts ofliterary theory. Authors are likely to include Plato, Aristotle, Horace,and Sir Phillip Sidney and Hume. The second part of the coursefocuses on contemporary theorists, such as Marx, Althusser, Said,Spivak, Bhabha, Derrida, Bourdieu, and Harroway. Students producea professional quality final paper working directly with one or moretheorists.
