Fulfills a course requirement in the modern language major, minor andcore concentrationPrerequisite: Placement by examination or successful completion (C- orhigher) of FREN 202.This course will focus on the 20th century, across all genres: novel,drama, short stories, poetry, songs. The course books includevocabulary and grammar review, and introduce some lesserknownwriters from Canada, Louisiana, Africa, the Caribbean, theSouth Pacific and elsewhere. The course explores post-colonialthemes, and students will learn to imagine French (the language)and francophoniE (the language and aspects of culture) as usefulcommodities outside of France and around the world. This course istaught in French.
