Prerequisites: CJS 201This course is a seminar on current topics in the criminal law. Byfocusing on criminal cases that are before the courts and criminal lawsthat are the subject of legislative activity, the course gives students anopportunity to apply their knowledge of crime to factual situations thatare in the news. It also examines the extent to which criminal lawsimpact individual behavior and public policy. Students are expected tohave a basic understanding of substantive criminal law.
