Fulfills a course requirement for the Bioethics CertificateThis course does not fulfill a course requirement in the Biology major,minor or core concentration.Prerequisites: BIO 103 or CORE 101 or consent of instructorThe ethical, legal and social implications of recent advancesin biological research, environmental issues and technological applications generate discussions between scientists, politicians,lawyers, clergy and citizens throughout the world. Bioethics isa comprehensive interdisciplinary course about biomedical andenvironmental legal and ethical practice. Students will discussthe conflicts what arise in society that biologists/biotechnologistsface when working in biotechnology, human and animal health,environmental health and ethical research practices in basic/appliedscience. Through critical thinking and "real case" scenarios studentswill be able to reach an appropriate course of action to understand andresolve bioethical concerns in society.
