Designed to give students practical experience in the theories and methods of modern literary scholarship and criticism. The course aims to acquaint students with the presuppositions about literature which underlie critical writing and thus to provide standards for evaluating critical and scholarly works. It also provides intensive training in the analysis of literary texts. Required for English majors. Prerequisite: ENGL 200 or CC 110.
