Prerequisite: HSC 305 Culture and Healthcare, its equivalent, or permission of instructor. An introductory survey examining Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) - its historical and cultural roots and current application in western contexts. Students will demonstrate an understanding of a variety of CAM approaches and explore their application in both traditional and nontraditional healthcare settings. Using research evidence, students will critically analyze CAM and its applications throughout the course and in a final research project.
