This basic dental assisting laboratory course allows for the practical application of chairside dental assisting techniques in restorative dentistry. Students develop skills in manipulation and delivery of restorative materials. In addition, skills are developed in sterilization procedures and in the preparation of instruments. Care and maintenance of equipment used in restorative dentistry are stressed. Team positioning, four & six-handed dentistry, and oral evacuation skills are developed as well as skills in patient handling. This course is for students who have been admitted to the Dental Assisting Program.
