Topics covered include melodrama, romanticism, realism, expressionism, the birth of the avant garde, post-war modernism, and trends at the end of the twentieth century. Discussions cover the historical and cultural context in which different forms of theatre occurred, changes in theatrical convention, and the drama of the period.
