Generators and relations, free groups, products, commutative (Abelian) groups, finite groups. Groups acting on sets, the Sylow theorems. Definition and examples of rings and ideals. Introduction to field theory. Linear algebra over a field. Field extensions, constructible polygons, non-trisectability.
