African Diaspora has emerged as one of the "hot" topics of discussion in contemporary global race relations. The purpose of this course is to engage in a semester-long study into the meaning of the "African Diaspora." Beginning with a brief reflection on some of the theoretical overlays on the topic, the course moves quickly into the heart of the subject matter. The course posts that beyond theoretical discussions, there is much to be learned from a close examination of the narrative accounts of individuals who have lived transnationally - who have themselves been actors and agents of the Diaspora.
