This course addresses the knowledge and skills needed to provide safe and effective care to patients in the first semester. Students will explore scientific principles related to nursing interventions and will practice psychomotor skills needed to safely and effectively implement those interventions. Principles of safe medication adminsitration and monitoring are included to allow for students to administer medications in the clinical course Patient Centered Care. Knowledge, skills, and attitudes based on QSEN competencies, including patient-centered care, use of evidence-based guidelines, quality improvement, safety, and informatics will be incorporated into lab practice.
