Study of experimentation in film from the early 20th century to the present, beginning with the International avant-garde of the 1910-1920s and focusing on non-commercial and radical use of the medium, including abstract, cameraless, animated, trance, underground, and structural films and expanded cinema, among other trends, as well as an introduction to experimentation in video. Prerequisite: CP 260, or consent of department. Screening fee: $30.
