Physiology of rumen, action and microbiology of rumen digestion and utilization of carbohydrates, lipids and nitrogenous substances in ruminant animals. Absorption and assimilation of nutrients by the ruminant animals. Feeding standards for maintenance, growth, reproduction and lactation. Two lectures per week. Prerequisite: ANS 415 or consent of instructor.
