This course will investigate the history, theory, and aesthetics of non-fiction cinema and media culture. Developments in international non-fiction cinema will be discussed in relation to technology, history, politics of visual culture, and the continuous questioning of our ability to understand and change reality that has been at the heart of the documentary impulse and continuously radicalized with newer media technologies. Prerequisite: CP 260. Screening fee: $30.
