475A-3 Numerical Analysis. (Same as MATH 475A) A practical introduction to the theory and techniques for computation with digital computers. Topics include: the solution of nonlinear equations; interpolation and approximation; solution of systems of linear equations; numerical integration, solution of ordinary differential equations; computation of eigenvalues and eigenvectors; and solution of partial differential equations. Students will use MATLAB to study the numerical performance of the algorithms introduced in the course. Prerequisite: Mathe-matics 221 and 250.
