This course is an examination of virtue through films and selected readings with special attention to how courage is developed and displayed in response to various situations from its traditional context in the military, to areas of resistance against unjust racial and gender arrangements. Specific manifestations of military courage, religious courage as exemplified in martyrdom, political courage, and professional courage are examined.
