The history and culture of the Inca Empire of South America and its fatal encounter with the West. Archaeological excavations, accounts from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, and ethnographies of present-day peoples of the Andes are explored. Prerequisites: upper-division standing or consent of instructor. (Formerly known as ANRG 128.) Credit not allowed for both ANRG 128 and ANAR 158.
