Optimal reception of signals in Additive White Gaussian Noise: detection theory basics, signal space concepts, geometry of maximum likelihood receivers. Performance analysis of optimal receivers: error probability as a function of Eb/N0, union bound, nearest neighbors approximation. Link design: power-bandwidth tradeoffs, link budget analysis.
