Students will explore the basic principles involved in the process of sound reinforcement and recording, including microphones and the principles of sound transduction, basic analog audio electronics, device interconnection, shielding and grounding, analog-to-digital conversion, magnetic recording processes in both analog and digital systems, and standard practices of recording, mixing, editing and mastering. Studio and live sound equipment are used in class, in studio exercises, and student projects. Offered Fall odd numbered years
