This course will introduce students to the practice and policies of addiction counseling. Students will learn about case management, consultation, ethical and legal standards, and client advocacy. Professional organizations, standards, licensure and certification will be examined. Public policy, laws, and regulations regarding addictions counseling will be stressed so counselors are better able to effectively advocate on behalf of their clients.
