This course introduces students to basic musicianship skills. The course begins with exercises in pitch matching and basic interval recognition and progresses toward other skills, such as singing simple melodies at sight, sight-reading various rhythmic patterns, and dictating simple melodies and chord progressions. We recommend that prospective music majors, especially those with prior singing experience, skip this course and begin with MUR 113.
