A thorough understanding of the industry is essential for a successful career in music business. This course will present a general overview of the business side of music, exploring the structures of, and relationships between, various aspects of the industry including marketing, producing, publishing, legal issues (contracts, copyright, and intellectual property rights), emerging technologies, and career opportunities. Additionally, this course will provide music business students the opportunity to meet in an academic setting to discuss topics that are important to their education and careers.
