Fluorescence spectroscopy and confocal/multiphoton microscopy in research; intro of pharmacology, life science, and physical science students to fluorophores, anisotropy, ligand binding, energy transfer, cytometry, lifetime imaging, correlation spectroscopy, immunocytochemistry, and image analysis with an emphasis on instrumental/sample artifacts, fluorescence application, literature evaluation, and communication of rationales to other scientists. Prerequisite: General chemistry and biology course.
