Absorption of light, pn junction theory and carrier transport, theory of carrier generation and recombination in the bulk and at interfaces, contacts, components of cell efficiency. Cell design, cell models and techniques for loss minimization, evaluation of cell and module performance. Application of physical principles to concentrator and thin film solar cells. Review of technologies, with focus on highly efficient silicon cells.
