Examines client needs, health promotion, prevention of complications and pain management associated with surgical intervention. Introduces skills related to mental health care, such as areas of adaptive/maladaptive behaviors and specific mental health disorders in a variety of healthcare settings. Prerequisite: Admission to the Integrated Nursing program; successful completion of a Medicaid Nurse Aide equivalent course or proof of active status on the Medicaid Nurse Aide Registry. Completion, with a grade of C or better, of BIO135 PY110, COM181, ENG 101, and CIS 100 or equivalent. Students must have Basic Life Support certification current liability insurance coverage and current immunizations for the duration of the course. Prerequisite or corequisite: NIP 110 and AHS 100 and FHM 100 . Lecture: 6 credits (90 contact hours). Laboratory/Clinical: 2 credits (90 contact hours).
