This course introduces learners to the various aspects of the world‘s oceans: composition of seawater and the ocean‘s layered structure. Learners will look at the formation of oceanic plates and the geology of the ocean floor. The course will include a discussion of the history of oceanography and learners will compare and contrast ocean waves, ocean circulation, and ocean currents as they relate to the continental shelves and coastlines.
